About the Author
Wanda Ashford Longshore was born on July 28, 1942, one of six children to Rev. and Mrs. Lionel Ashford of Columbia, South Carolina. In 1964, her husband, a member of the U.S. Navy, moved their family to San Diego, California where between 1972 and 1976, the author earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, and her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from San Diego State University. Longshore was admitted to the doctoral program in Educational Psychology at U.C.L.A in 1976 where she completed all but dissertation.
